We were able to go away for our 5 year anniversary, a few weeks late. Thanks to Jen for taking our kids for two nights, we were able to go to Logan for a quick getaway. It was nice just to hang out, walk around campus, eat at yummy places, sleep in, and just be together. Sometimes I forget how much I like Beau because we are so busy that we don't get to spend much time together. It was fun to see him in a place he loves. It was fun to be away from the kids, and to see them when we got home.

When we got back, we had a few days to worry about Tate getting ear tubes. We knew it would probably be okay, but we still worried. Nora stayed at Jen's (again! Thanks again.) and we headed downtown for the early surgery. Tate was a trooper. He's a pretty happy kid.
It was a little bit hard to keep him entertained in the waiting room, and the exam room. He sure is fun to play with though.
He has a really hard time holding still, so something is blurry in every picture.
The surgery went well. They let me be in there until he went under the anesthetic. The nurse and the anesthesiologist were talking and asking questions the whole time. They said he fought a good 5 seconds longer than most (does that mean stubborn?), and then he went limp. They said they'd be out in a few minutes to get me. It was then that I realized they weren't just chatty people, they were distracting me. They are very good at their jobs. I went and shed a few tears on Beau's shoulder, got out my book, read a page and then they came and got us to go back to recovery. It was so quick. After a quick 20 minutes in recovery, with the other little baby screaming the whole time, we were out of there. Tate calmed down after just a few minutes. He got to have his milk as soon as it was over, and he was back to his happy self. Here he is on the way home.
This was such a good experience, and life has been so great since because we haven't had to be at the doctor every week. So happy to have tubes!
